I need your help family and friends!

This Sunday (Mother's Day) I have to give a talk in church about the role of motherhood. (gulp)
And not only that but I have to sing in the choir. (double gulp)
And to top it all off Shane won't be at church on Sunday which means my 2 children will be sitting on the church pew unattended! (triple gulp)

If anyone out there in cyber world has any great -or even just mediocre- Mother's day thoughts, quotes, poems, short stories, recitations, skits, novels, or television programs...please send them my way. Leave it in the comments section, so all can 10 people who read this can bask in the glorious thoughts about mothers, or email me at carefree7@hotmail.com. I don't know when, and I don't know how, (name that song.) but I promise I will make it up to you somehow.

Thank you and have a good day.

Disclaimer: In no way shape of form would the author of this blog ever leave her children to fend for themselves on a church pew, or anywhere else for that matter. (That is what young women are for.)

I just found your blog when I googled "Mother's Day talk." Meaning I too was just asked tonight to give a talk in sacrament on the blessings of being a mother. Husband is speaking also, so I've got 3 kids on the pew running a muck. Thanks Bishop - nothing like asking a mom to talk on Mother's Day. Looks like I'm going to be buying some waterproof mascara this week! Good luck to you!

Good Luck Carrie! Shane picked a really great weekend to leave town. Your condo looks great, nice job. I like your new rug. Check out Elder Ballards talk from Oct. 08. Also if you haven't read Jane Clayson Johnsons' book "I am a Mother", it's well worth your time and might give you some great ideas for your talk.

I would second the mention of Jane Clayson's book (mom gave it to us a few years ago). There's a little story in it near the beginning about how she attends a dinner with all these big wigs who are introducing themselves and their fancy jobs, and then the women get up and say things like, "I'm just a mom." Clayson goes on about how nobody is "just a mom." It would be a good intro.

I third the motion of reading Jane Clayson's book. There are some good little tidbits to include in a talk. Too bad the topic isn't on older siblings. I'm sure you could go on and on about the virtues of your eldest sister. I digress. There is a great talk by Elder Scott titled "The Joy of Living the Great Plan of Happiness." He has some lovely things to say about women and motherhood. Post your notes after your talk and let us know how it went. I'm sure it will be thoughtful, entertaining and touching. Good luck!
